Flames coach in South Africa for player assessment

Malawi coaches are in South Africa

Malawi national football team coach Ernest Mtawali is in South Africa where among other things, he will assess some players ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) back-to-back qualifiers against Guinea’s Syli Nationale.
Mtawali, who will spend a week and a half in the rainbow nation, will also engage Gerald Phiri Jnr and Robin Ngalande’s clubs—Bidvest Wits and Platinum Stars respectively—to consider releasing them early for Flames training.
“Gerald is yet to be registered as he is still awaiting his permit while Robin is not being featured and hopefully, I can convince their coaches to consider releasing them early so that they can catch up on fitness and we can also work on other tactical areas,” said Mtawali.
The Flames mentors has already watched some games involving teams that have Malawian players, citing last Friday’s Premier Soccer League match between Wits and Mpumalanga Black Aces which captain Limbikani Mzava, plays for.
“Besides that, it is important that I engage their coaches so that I get an appraisal of how they are doing.
“It is also important that I have a chat with some of the players,” he said.
