Muhammad Sulumba’s late strike inspired Be Forward Wanderers to the finals of the K43 million Standard Bank Knockout Cup after pipping Blue Eagles 1-0 in a scintillating semi-final match at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe last Saturday.
The Nomads will face Civo United who came from behind to boot out Big Bullets 2-1 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre last Thursday.
Sulumba complemented a Kondwani Kumwenda free kick by coolly slotting the ball into the net after a lapse in concentration by the Eagles defence.
Led by Flames’ rookie forward Schumacher Kuwali, the Eagles fought every inch of the way but found it hard to unlock the Nomads defence marshalled by Flames international Stanely Sanudi.
On the other hand, Jabulani Linje, Kondwani Kumwenda, Isaac Kaliyati and Victor Nyirenda were a handful for Eagles all out through the match.
Linje had an open goal to put Wanderers in the lead in the seventh minute but his shot was weak and ably tamed by John Soko in Eagles goals.
Nyirenda drew disappointment chorus from a contingent of Be Forward Fans after failing to score from another Kondwani Kumwenda fine pass.
A splash of brilliance for Eagles came in the 17th minute. Running into the box he lunged into a John Banda pass and dribbled past three Eagles players to float the ball into the box but an advancing Charles Ngosi failed to connect and Stanley Sanudi cleared the danger.
In a post match brief Eagles coach Deklerke Msakakuwona accepted defeat.
