TNM Super League defending champions Big Bullets have stretched their lead at the top of the log table by seven points following their impressive start to the second round.
Bullets beat Mafco 1-0 at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota on Saturday via Yamikani Fodya’s 41st minute strike.
Azam Tigers and Mighty be Forward Wanderers, who were trailing by six points ahead of the second-round kick-off, failed to reduce the gap.
Tigers collected just two points from their outing to the capital city where they held Kamuzu Barracks to a goalless draw at Civo Stadium. They were also forced to a one-all draw by Epac the following afternoon at the same venue.
Tigers opened the score through Bright Munthali before Epac equalised via Clement Mvula.
Tigers now have 28 points from 16 games.
On the other hand, Wanderers lost 0-1 to Civo on Sunday. Midfielder Isaac Msiska scored the lone goal of the match at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
It was a fruitful outing to the commercial city for Civo who the previous day pipped bottom-placed Fisd Wizards by the same margin. Wyson Nkana scored for Civo.
In other games, Young Chimodzi and Lovemore Fazili got off to a good start as Silver Strikers mentors with two wins in the northern region following a 2-0 win over Mzuni on Sunday and 1-0 win over Moyale Barracks on Monday while Red Lions saw off rookies Dedza Young Soccer by the same margin.
Blue Eagles moved up to third position from fourth, dislodging Wanderers following their 3-0 thumping of Airborne Rangers.
Eagles and Wanderers are tied on 26 points, but are separated by goal difference.
