Phiri Jnr signs for Wits in SA

Phiri impressed at the Cosafa Cup in May

Flames winger Gerald Phiri Junior has become the latest Malawian player to be signed by a South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) club.
Phiri has signed for Bidvest Wits from Zimbabwean Premier League club Caps United.
“The deal has now been finalised and I can confirm that he now belongs to Bidvest Wits,” Wits CEO Jose Ferreira was quoted by  KickOff.com.
Phiri’s move brings to nine the number of Malawian players in the PSL following the recent signing of midfielder Micium Mhone and striker Muhamad Sulumba by Jomo Cosmos.
They will join Limbikani Mzava, Robert Ng’ambi, Robin Ngalande, Gabadinho Mhango, Atusaye Nyondo and Esau Kanyenda who already play in the PSL.
Defender Harry Nyirenda plays in the second-tier National First Division (NFD).
Meanwhile, reports from the rainbow nation indicate that Ngalande is set to complete a move to Platinum Stars from Wits where he will team up with compatriot Ng’ambi.
According to Kickoff.com, Wits have indicated without giving details about his destination that there is a huge possibility Ngalande will be finalising his move within the next couple of days.
