Mighty Be Forward Wanderers on Sunday returned to the summit of the domestic football premiership when they beat rookies Dedza Young Soccer Stars 3-0 at Kalulu Stadium in Nchalo.
Following the win, the Lali Lubani Road outfit has 21 points from nine games, a point ahead of their arch-rivals Big Bullets who slipped to second position after being held to a 1-1 draw by Blue Eagles.
However, Wanderers have a single game cushion compared to Bullets.
Exciting midfielder Rafiq Mussa put the Nomads ahead before Isaac Kaliyati claimed the second goal. Burly forward Muhammad Sulumba, who is fast turning into the Nomads’ marksman made it 3-0 towards the end of the game.
Dedza are third from the bottom with seven points from eight games.
Wanderers coach Elia Kananji said he is happy to have returned to the top of the log table.
In the match between Bullets and Eagles, Schumacher Kuwali stunned the People’s Team in the 57th minute with a dipping volley.
However, revitalised forward Chiukepo Msowoya levelled the scores with only eight minutes to full time from the penalty spot after Steve Chagoma had fouled a dangerously advancing Jaffalie Chande.
Eagles are now third with 17 points from nine games.
The top three teams—Wanderers, Bullets and Eagles—remain the only teams to taste defeat.
At Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, struggling Epac FC breathed a sigh of relief following a 1-0 win over Silver Strikers.
Muda Jeffrey struck the lone goal of the match.
Following the loss, Silver have slipped to fourth from third position with 16 points from nine games.
