The Football Association of Malawi (FAM), through its Competitions Committee, has charged Bangwe All Stars Football Club with misconduct following incidents that occurred after their NBS Bank National Division League match against FOMO FC at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre on 12 June 2026.
According to the charge sheet, Bangwe All Stars have been charged with violent conduct, threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour towards match officials, contrary to Article 29.3 of the 2026 NBS National Division League Rules and Regulations.
FAM says the charge follows official reports from the Match Commissioner and Match Officials regarding serious acts of misconduct allegedly committed by Bangwe All Stars officials and supporters after the conclusion of the match.
The charge sheet states that immediately after the final whistle, Bangwe All Stars Head Coach Jomo Osman entered the field of play protesting the referee’s decision to award FOMO FC a penalty in the 51st minute.
During the protest, Osman is alleged to have acted in a provocative, aggressive and insulting manner towards the match officials.
The charge sheet further states that Bangwe All Stars officials, led by Muhammed Amadu Oman, together with supporters, allegedly surrounded, intimidated and physically assaulted match officials as they proceeded to the dressing rooms, causing injuries to the officiating team.
Assistant Referee Family Mulewa is also reported to have been harassed, intimidated and subjected to severe verbal abuse by Bangwe All Stars officials and supporters during the post-match disturbances, resulting in trauma and injuries that required medical attention.
Bangwe All Stars have also been charged with bringing the game of football into disrepute, contrary to Article 13.2 (d) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
According to the charge sheet, the club failed to control its supporters from engaging in improper conduct, thereby bringing the game, FAM and the name of the sponsor into disrepute.
FAM has since asked Bangwe All Stars to submit a written response to the charges within 48 hours of receipt of the notification.
