Beach Eagles Eliminated as Beach Soccer Semis Are Confirmed

Defending  champions Beach Eagles of Nkhata Bay have been eliminated from the 2025 FAM Beach Soccer National Championship following a dramatic group stage at Arnold’s Lakeshore Resort in Nkhotakota on Saturday.

The experienced beach soccer giants failed to register a win in Group A, suffering a shock 6-4 defeat to Peninsula Stars of Karonga before settling for a 5-5 draw against hosts Vinthenga, a result that saw their hopes of securing a historic fourth consecutive title come to an end.

In Group A, Vinthenga topped the standings with four points after edging Peninsula Stars 7-6, while Peninsula secured second place with three points to advance to the semi-finals.

Group B saw Umodzi of Salima dominate proceedings, opening with a 9-5 victory over Rank before defeating Sunbird Nkopola 5-3 to finish top of the group with a perfect record.

Sunbird Nkopola had earlier thrashed hosts Rank 11-4, securing second place in the group, while Rank exited the competition without a point.

The semi-final lineup is now confirmed, with Vinthenga set to face Sunbird Nkopola, while Umodzi will take on Peninsula Stars as the competition heads into the knockout stage.
