FAM Holds Elite Coaching Workshop for CAF A Licence Coaches

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is conducting a three-day refresher course for CAF A coaching licence holders at Chiwembe Technical Centre in Blantyre.

The workshop brings together 25 CAF A license holders which  aims to ensure that coaches stay up to date with current global trends while equipping them with best practices in the modern game.

FAM Technical Director Yvon Avry said the workshop is key to improving coaching standards in the country, especially with a new syllabus awaiting approval by CAF.

“It is important to give our coaches an opportunity to gather knowledge and with this new syllabus, we are assured that these coaches will perform well in the upcoming season,” he said.

One of the participants, Milias Jegwe Pofera, commended the association for organising the workshop.

“This is very good because it has taken time since the last workshop was conducted in 2015. This will help us a lot in developing young talent, and I am sure my fellow coaches will apply this knowledge in their teams,” he said.

Pofera added that modern football demands continuous learning due to technological advancements.

“There are many areas we need to improve as a country because football is becoming more digital. As coaches, we need to analyse matches and improve our weaknesses to take football in Malawi to another level,” he added.

The CAF A Licence is the second highest coaching qualification in Africa, required for coaches of top-tier teams. FAM believes the initiative will enhance the competitiveness of Malawian coaches.

Sessions are being facilitated by CAF/FIFA Coach Educator Captain John Kaputa (Retired),  and FAM Technical Director Yvon Avry.
