Scorchers Eye Emphatic Win Over Angola

Malawi National Women’s Team head coach Lovemore Fazili says the Scorchers are targeting a commanding victory over Angola in their final Group A match of the COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa.

Malawi must win by at least a three-goal margin to stand a realistic chance of progressing to the semifinals. In addition, either Zimbabwe or Zambia must play to a draw in Group B, while Mozambique need to defeat Madagascar in Group C by not more than two goals for Malawi’s qualification hopes to materialise.

Speaking ahead of the decisive encounter, Fazili expressed confidence in his side’s readiness and attacking approach.

“We are well prepared and the players are in good form. We understand what is at stake and we have to win convincingly. There is no reason why we cannot beat Angola comfortably if we stick to our game plan,” said Fazili.

The Scorchers face Angola at Peter Mokaba Stadium this afternoon, knowing that both performance and favourable results elsewhere will determine their semifinal fate.
