Southern and Central Women’s League Titles at Stake This Weekend

A decisive weekend awaits in the Football Association of Malawi Southern and Central Region Women’s Leagues, with top positions hanging in the balance.

In the South, five fixtures are scheduled, but attention centres on two matches involving the top three teams. On Saturday, second placed Allan Ladies face fifth placed Nsuwadzi Queens at Works Ground, needing victory to boost their chances of climbing to the summit of the eight team table.

A day later, leaders Chitoliro Heroines travel to Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre to face third placed Ekhaya Women in a match that could significantly reshape the standings.

Chitoliro currently top the table with 25 points from 10 matches, two ahead of Allan Ladies and three clear of Ekhaya Women. With margins so tight, the leadership could change depending on this weekend’s outcomes.

Elsewhere in the South, Zomba City Ladies host Bvumbwe Ladies at Prison Ground, while bottom side FOMO Ladies take on Ndirande Soccer Giants at Chitakale Ground in Mulanje.

Ekhaya Women head into Sunday’s clash in confident mood after a commanding 4 to 0 victory over Ndirande Soccer Giants last weekend, with Maggie Msiska scoring twice and Hope Chikumba and Eliza Mungwa adding a goal each. Meanwhile, Allan Ladies shared the spoils in a 1–1 draw with Zomba City Lioness, with Chisomo Justin and Esther Nyalugwe on target for their respective sides.

In the Centre, four fixtures are lined up for Sunday, highlighted by a top of the table showdown between leaders Creck Sporting Ladies and second placed Fact Academy at Kasungu Stadium.

With only three rounds remaining and both teams having played 11 matches, Creck lead the standings with 30 points, two ahead of Fact on 28. Victory for either side would significantly influence the title race.

Third placed Blue Eagles Ladies will seek to consolidate their position when they face fourth placed Heroes Sporting Academy at DAPP Ground in Lilongwe. Blue Eagles have 24 points, while Heroes sit on 13.

Other Central Region fixtures will see Hungry Lions Ladies host Chilinde Queens at Chitsime Ground, while Sporting FC Women meet Dedza Super Queens at Kamuzu Institute Ground.

Last weekend, Creck Sporting Ladies delivered the most emphatic result, thrashing Chilinde Queens 15–0. Alinafe Nyirenda struck six goals to move second on the scorers’ chart with 18 goals, two behind leading scorer Jestina Bwanausi of Blue Eagles Ladies. Emily Banda added five goals, Memory Malengaa netted a hat trick, and Istumaya Yasin contributed one in a dominant display.
