Beach Soccer Association Praises FAM for Advance Funding Support

The Beach Soccer Association BSA has commended the Fleetwood Haiya led Football Association of Malawi leadership for providing funding in advance to support the operations of zonal beach soccer leagues across the country.

This marks the first time the BSA has received operational funding in advance, a move that has significantly improved the planning and delivery of beach soccer activities nationwide.

Speaking after receiving a K83 million cheque, BSA President Force Ngwira said the development demonstrates strong corporate governance by the current FAM leadership.

“We commend the FAM leadership for providing funding in advance. This helped us to manage the zonal leagues properly,” said Ngwira.

Ngwira also applauded FAM for increasing the financial package for beach soccer during the just ended season.

“The Transformation Agenda is in the right direction. As beach soccer, we have registered several success stories under the Haiya leadership,” he said.

He added that the association will actively engage corporate partners in a bid to attract sponsorship for beach soccer activities in the country.

On his part, FAM President Fleetwood Haiya pledged continued financial support to all Member Associations in line with the Football Transformation Agenda.

“The game is growing and we are encouraged by the progress being made. We will consider the association’s request to further increase the package for beach soccer leagues across the country,” said Haiya.

Haiya also encouraged the Beach Soccer Association to intensify efforts to secure sponsorship to complement FAM support.

He further disclosed that construction of the first beach soccer stadium in the city has already been approved and could be completed by March.

In addition, Haiya said the National Beach Soccer Team will commence preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers scheduled for July this year.

Haiya was accompanied at the presentation by FAM Executive Committee members, including Brigadier General Gilbert Mittawa, who is also President of the Super League of Malawi, Felister Dossi, and Daudi Mtanthiko, among others.

The funding will also cater for prizes for teams and individuals at the Beach Soccer National Championship, which will be held on dates and at a venue yet to be announced.

Five zonal champions, along with the best overall runners up, will participate in this year’s championship. The confirmed teams are Peninsula, Beach Eagles, Nyasa, Kapeta, and Umodzi, with one additional team yet to be confirmed.
