Five Match Weeks Remain as Silver Ladies Maintain Comfortable Lead

With five match weeks remaining before the curtain falls on the 2025 National Bank of Malawi NBM Women’s Premiership, leaders Silver Strikers Ladies remain firmly in control of the title race and will require a significant slip to surrender their advantage.

Silver Ladies, who sit on 36 points, begin the final stretch with a home encounter against sixth placed Mighty Wanderers Queens, holding a seven point cushion over nearest challengers Ascent Soccer, who have 29 points.

Ascent Soccer will be on the road on Saturday, facing fourth placed FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women at Mpira Stadium, as both sides look to keep their title and podium ambitions alive.

With no room for complacency among the frontrunners, Silver Ladies appear determined to sustain their dominance in this inaugural top tier women’s league, driven by the prolific form of leading goal scorer Deborah Henry.

Should both Silver Ladies and Ascent Soccer win their remaining four fixtures, the battle for third place is expected to be fiercely contested among four sides. MDF Lionesses and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are tied on 22 points, Kukoma Ntopwa follow closely with 21, while Mighty Wanderers Queens remain in contention on 20 points.

A decisive clash in the race for third spot will see MDF Lionesses take on Kukoma Ntopwa on Sunday at Mpira Stadium, a fixture that could significantly shape the final standings.

At the lower end of the table, already relegated Topik Academy, who have collected just three points from three draws, face Civil Service Women at Civo Stadium. Fellow relegation candidates MK Academy, on four points, are up against eighth placed Moyale Sisters at Mzuzu Stadium.

So far, Silver Ladies have suffered only one defeat this season, losing to city rivals MDF Lionesses at the start of the second round after completing the first round with a perfect winning record.

They also boast the league’s strongest attack, having scored 39 goals while conceding just seven. Ascent Soccer have netted 26 goals and allowed eight, underscoring the gap that Silver Ladies will be keen to preserve as the season enters its decisive phase.
