Malawi U15 Boys and Girls Set for CAF African Schools Championship Opener Against Lesotho

Malawi’s Under-15 Boys’ and Girls’ teams begin their CAF African Schools Football Championship campaign today in Cape Town, South Africa, with both sides set to face Lesotho in their opening preliminary matches at Idas Valley Stadium.

The Girls’ team will play first at 11am, followed by the Boys’ fixture at the same venue.

The Girls have focused heavily on improving their attacking efficiency during the final phase of preparations. Head coach Bridget Chirwa expressed confidence in her squad’s readiness, saying:
“Our focus in the past two days of training has been on sharpening our striking force. We want to finish the game in the first half, securing more goals and controlling the tempo. The girls are mentally and physically ready for the match.”

The Boys’ team also completed two productive training sessions after arriving in Cape Town on Wednesday. Head coach Joseph Malizani said the players have responded well tactically and look set for the opener.
“We had wonderful two days of training here in Cape Town, which helped us sharpen several areas. The boys responded well to coaching instructions, and I’m confident we are ready for the job.”

Both teams will return to action on Saturday morning when they face Botswana in their final group matches as they chase a place in the semifinals of the regional championship.
