ALL SET FOR NBM WOMEN’S PREMIERSHIP OPENER

All is set for the much-anticipated opener of the NBM Women’s Premiership, which kicks off this Saturday, 27th July 2025, at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.

The opening match will see two Blantyre giants FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women and Kukoma Ntopwa Women, battle it out for the first three points of the inaugural national women’s league.

Bullets head coach Maggie Chombo expects a tough encounter but remains optimistic.

“I know it will not be an easy game for us because four months ago, we lost to them in the Championship. But that was the past. This is a different competition, and I can assure you that we have prepared very well as a team,” said Chombo.

She added that her target is to collect as many points as possible from the early fixtures:

“We are aiming to get points from each and every game, hoping to finish in the top three. Our main focus is to win our first five matches to set a strong tone for the season.”

On the other side, Kukoma Ntopwa Women’s head coach Isaac Osman is confident his team is ready for the challenge.

“We are very prepared. We know it’s not going to be easy. Bullets is a big name in women’s football and our long-time rival, so we expect a very tough game,” he said.

Osman also took a moment to appreciate the introduction of the national women’s league by FAM:

“Let me thank FAM for launching the national league. It will boost the growth of women’s football in Malawi. This competition will inspire more girls to take up football and will help develop talent across the country.”

The action continues on Sunday with four exciting fixtures across the country , MK Academy will face Civil Service Women, while MDF Lioness will take on Silver Strikers Ladies in what promises to be a thrilling Capital City derby.

Up North, Moyale Sisters will lock horns with Mighty Wanderers Queens, and in another exciting matchup, Ascent Soccer Academy will clash with Topik Sisters to wrap up Matchweek One.
