Chawinga Sisters Recognized at FAZ Awards

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President, Andrew Kamanga, awarded Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga with a certificate of recognition yesterday.

FAZ recognized its women’s football stars at an awards ceremony held at Taj Pamodzi Hotel, where the Scorchers were also honored for their outstanding contributions.

The Scorchers’ attackers were commended for their exceptional accomplishments and their role in advancing women’s football, setting a benchmark for excellence in the sport.

Speaking on the award, Scorchers captain Tabitha Chawinga appreciated the gesture and said it motivates players to be recognized.

“Let me thank the Football Association of Zambia for recognizing us, it’s a motivation to us and this is a fuel to my game, when I was coming, I didn’t know that I will be awarded. This award is for all Malawians female football players” she Said.

Football Association of Malawi President Fleetwood Haiya added, “Let me thank Me Andrew Kamanga on the awards this shows that we are all pulling towards football transformation and mostly for the women’s game. Congratulations to Tabitha and Temwa because they deserve this.”

Malawi will face Zambia today in a continuation match that was called off yesterday due to bad weather, and the second game is scheduled to be played on Tuesday.
