Media Release: FAM Exco Resolutions

Football Association of Malawi Executive Committee (“the Committee”) held a Virtual Meeting on 1st November 2024 where urgent issues that are fundamental to Transforming the Game of Football in Malawi were discussed and the key resolutions and approvals made during the meeting include: –

a) Technical:

i) The Committee resolved to ratify the decision of the FAM Emergency Committee terminating the contract of the Senior Men’s National Football Coach taken in line with provisions of Article 46 of FAM Statutes (2019).

ii) The Committee resolved to approve the recommendation to appoint an Interim Technical Panel comprising of;

a) Calisto Pasuwa as Head of Technical Panel

b) Peter Mponda as First Assistant Coach

c) Prichard Mwansa as Second Assistant Coach

d) Kinnah Phiri and Young Chimodzi as Technical Advisors

iii) The Committee further resolved to appoint the Interim Technical Panel with immediate effect considering the upcoming engagements of the Flames.

iv) The Committee resolved that engagements with Malawi Sports Council and Ministry of Sports should commence immediately on the recruitment of the Senior Men’s National Football Coach.

b) Governance:

The Meeting resolved that funds be disbursed to Eastern Region Football Association equivalent to what other Regional Associations get from FAM.

c) General:

The Committee resolved to ratify the decision of FAM Emergency Committee endorsing of the candidacy of Dr Patrice Motsepe for the position President of the Confederation of African Football
