Women’s Regional League kicks off Saturday  

The 2024 Goshen-FAM Women’s Regional League is set to kick off this weekend with the official launch set for Mpira Stadium on Saturday.

FAM President Fleetwood Haiya will preside over the event that will involve a Southern Region Match between defending champions Kukoma Ntopwa Women and Bvumbwe Women.

This year’s League will wear a new face as the number for participating teams has increased from eight to 10 per region.

Regional Women’s Football Associations held play-offs over the past weeks involving last season’s bottom two teams and the new entrants to find the four teams that joined the top six teams from last season in each regions.

The list of qualified teams per region for this season are as follows:

South: Ntopwa FC, Nyasa Big Bullets Women, Mighty Wanderers Queens, Bvumbwe FC, Ndirande Soccer Giants, Red Lioness, Fomo Women’s FC, Bangwe All Stars, Wakawaka Tigresses and 11 Stars FC

Centre: MDF Lioness, Ascent Academy, Silver Strikers Ladies, Civo Service Women, Blue Eagles Ladies, Hungry Lions, Creck Sporting Ladies FC, Fact Football FC, Dedza Dynamos Ladies and Destiny Academy

North: Moyale Sisters, MK Academy, CY Sisters, Ekwendeni Sisters, Topik Sisters, Gafu Sisters, Bico Opticals, Mighty Queens, Rumphi Sisters and Green Birds.

Regional League winners will go away with K4 Million with runners up getting K2 Million while third and fourth placed teams will pocket K 1 Million and K500, 00 respectively.

The League is expected to end in December with the national championship slated for January and February 2025.
