Castel raise sponsorship to K400m

Castel Malawi have increased the Castle Challenge Cup sponsorship to K400 million from K320 million.

The company’s  Managing Director Thomas Reynaud announced the increase Wednesday at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre during the awards gala.

Reynaud said the firm decided to increase the sponsorship to cushion the effects of the 44 percent devaluation of the Malawi Kwacha.

“The 2023 season was exceptional following the stiff competition among the teams. We would like to assure the Malawians that we will continue sponsoring the cup and for this reason we have increased the sponsorship to K400 million for the remaining two years of the agreement,” Reynaud said.

In his remarks, Football Association of Malawi President Fleetwood Haiya assured Castel Malawi Limited that it will have visibility.

“Gone are the days where sponsorship should be in the form of a donation. As Fam, we have put in place strategies to give value to the sponsorship. We shall give you [Castel Malawi] a platform to promote your products. We want to challenge you that the investment you are putting in football will yield positive results.

“Your gesture this evening underscores your commitment to leave a lasting impression on your contribution to the game of football and commitment to be part of the Transforming Malawi football agenda,” said Haiya.
