The Emergency Committee has given its approval to the recommendation put forth by the FAM Technical Committee to appoint Mr. Patrick Mabedi as the Malawi Senior Men’s National team  Coach on a two-year contract. Specific targets and a roadmap have been established to support continuous high-performance standards. The overarching vision is for the Flames to qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco. Key targets for Mr. Mabedi include:

  1. Qualification for the 2025 AFCON.
  2. Finishing in the top 2 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Funding for World Cup Qualifiers Scheduled in November 2023:

The Committee also considered funding for the World Cup Qualifiers slated for November 2023.
