Nomads net 10 past Katete in Castel Cup

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have registered the highest scoreline in Castel Challenge Cup after a 10-1 victory over Katete Rangers in round of 64 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

It was a day to forget for the Blantyre rural outfit as they conceeded five goals in each half for the Nomads to cruise to the round of 32.

Chiukepo Msowoya netted a hat trick while Isaac Kaliyati and Francisco Madinga each had a brace.

Francis Mkonda, Robin Ngalande and Misheck Bottoman scored the other three goals.

Katete scored their consolation through Madalitso Mwachumu from the spot.

Veteran striker Chiukepo was the hero of the day as he opened the floodgates in the eighth minute when he headed in Misheck Bottoman’s cross.

Midfielder Kaliyati doubled the lead in the 11th minute followd by Madinga’s 15th minute goal.

It was a routine job when Mkonda scored the fourth in the 43rd before Kaliyati scored his second in the 45th.

The first half ended with Wanderers still hungry for a sixth goal.

But soon after recess, Katete scored their consolation through Mwachumu from the spot following Bakilinho Mwakanyongo’s foul on Charles Kaupinde in the box.

But the second half was not different from the first as Wanderers continued their mission.

Chiukepo scored two goals within seven minutes in the 51st and 58th.

From then on it was party time as Katete showed no resistance from Wanderers as Ngalande made it 8-1 in the 71st minute.
Madinga completed brace in the 74th minute while Bottoman made 10-1 in the 78th.

Wanderers coach Mark Harrison said their mission was completed way back in the first half.
