Ntopwa at COSAFA to compete-Sangala

Ntopwa Women’s football Club James Sangala  coach says his subjects are at the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League Cosafa Qualifiers in South Africa to compete.

Sangala said this after the team’s first loosening session at Northwood Crusaders Sports Club in Durban on Sunday afternoon following  a long trip on Saturday.

He said though he doesn’t want to put pressure on the girls being their maiden international tournament, the team is aiming to reach the knockout stages.

“It was a long trip from Malawi to Durban since we had to travel for about 7 hours by bus from Johannesburg . After resting in the morning, we have had our loosening session this afternoon to activate the girls and all of them are good except two who are not feeling well.

“Being our maiden tournament, we have come here to compete though we do not want to put ourselves under any pressure. We will try our best to do better”, said Sangala.

Ntopwa will play their first match against Lesotho Defence Force on 30th August before facing the defending Champions, Green Buffaloes from Zambia on September 1st.

The team’s last group stage match will be against Double Action Ladies from Lesotho on 4th September.

Top two teams from each of the two groups will proceed to the semifinals with the tournament winner making it to the finals which will staged in Ivory Coast in November.
