HTD dresses Beach Soccer National Championship teams

HTD Malawi Limited on Thursday unveiled uniforms for the six teams that will compete at the 2023 HTD Beach Soccer National Championship scheduled for Sunbird Livingstonia Beach in Salima this weekend.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony took place at HTD Offices at Ginnery Corner in Blantyre, HTD’s Finance and Admin Officer Jawadi Medi said :”We are striving for welfare improvement of the Beach Soccer athletes. Ss you know by the end of this two-day event, the winner will walk away with money but we added the kits to ensure we motivate and encourage the players to do extra more in order to get something at the end of the games,” he said.

Beach Soccer Association Chairperson Gift Chimbalanga hailed HTD for the gesture saying his association is looking forward to an exciting weekend in Salima.

“We are very grateful to HTD for this timely gesture. This is a period where funds are difficult to come by and HTD stands out. They are here with a two-year  sponsorship worthy MK20 million per year . Today we have received these beautiful kits ahead of the tournament and this is the first time ever that teams have been dressed since the sport was launched back in 2010. We are speechless and this will motivate the association and teams to do well.

“We are promising fans that will watch the games to expect entertaining games from the six teams plus music from Zeze and Kelly Kay. We are urging them to come in large numbers and be part of this festival. It will be a weekend of fun where people will have maximum entertainment,” he explained.

The draw for the competition took place at the same offices last week when the participating teams were divided into two group of three teams.

Nkopola, Beach Eagles, and Munali were placed in group A while Nyasa, Deep Bay, and Chipala completed group B.

The winner will pocket MK3 million, with the Runner-up getting MK1 million whilst MK500 000 will go to the third placed team.
