FAM eyemarks Coaches, Referees training for rural competitions

After establishing rural competitions at all levels, FAM will now focus on building capacity for coaches and referees to ensure a 360 degrees approach in developing rural football

FAM President Walter Nyamilandu Manda made the remarks on Saturday afternoon when he officially launched the FAM Moto Northern Division One League at Mudyaka ground at Tukombo in Nkhatabay district.

Nyamilandu-Manda said after successfully launching the FAM districts Leagues two years ago and sponsoring the Division One Leagues from this season FAM has managed to enhance its  Leagues and player development pathway.

He said what is remaining is to have well trained coaches and referees involved in the rural competitions to ensure players are well nurtured.

“Now we have rural competitions at all levels  the next thing is ensure we improve quality. It’s one thing having teams participating in the competitions and another for them to compete with quality .

“So we will now focus on introducing programmes to train coaches and referees involved in these competitions so that we develop quality right from this level to the Super League.

“Much as we are on the market looking for new sponsors for the Division One, FAM will continue supporting the league because we believe that this is the players gateway to premier division as well as Super League. There is a lot of potential  from these leagues,” Manda said.

Among other attendees were FAM’s Vice president Justice Jabbar Alide and Super League President  Fleetwood Haiya

Simbowe Stars defeated Bafana Bafana 5 -1 in the official launch match.
