FAM Club Licensing workshop this weekend

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) will this weekend conduct a two-day Club Licensing workshop for Super League Clubs at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe in readiness for the 2023 football season.

According to FAM Club Licensing Manager Casper Jangale, the workshop aims at training the Clubs on the new Club Licensing Regulations, use of the Transfer matching System (TMS) as well as introducing them to the online Club Licensing platform.

“The National workshop is conducted every season before we start implementing the licensing process. So we have invited all the 16 Super League Clubs as well as colleagues from Sulom to discuss the new developments in Club Licensing as well as do refresher courses on TMS and Mpira Connect.

“We will also update the Clubs on how we are now running our competitions using the Competitions Management System bearing in mind that for the first time in 2022 we used the system to manage all our elite Competitions.

“We have added a 6th Criteria in Club Licensing which is the Business and Commercial as Clubs have been struggling to make ends meet. So, the workshop will be an eye opener to the clubs as they will undergo training on how best they can do business within football.

“Another thing on the agenda is the introduction to the CAF Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP). This is a system which Clubs will use to upload all the documents that are required when they are applying for Club Licensing so from this season everything will be done online so that we keep track of the records and also enable CAF monitor our operations,” said Jangale.

He added that FAM has enhanced the Sporting Criteria by emphasising on youth football development as well as the inclusion of Women’s teams within the Club setups.

“Club Licensing forms an important part of professional football development and we challenge Clubs to abide by the regulations if they to professionalise the game,” he said.

Each Super League team is expected to send one representative to the workshop which will run on Saturday and Sunday.
