It’s Wanderers vs Bullets in Airtel Top 8 final

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have set up a final against rivals Nyasa Big Bullets after triumphing 2-0 over Blue Eagles in Airtel Top 8 semi-final on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Bullets were the first to reach the final after knocking out another Lilongwe based giant Silver Strikers with a 3-1 victory at the same venue on Saturday.

The Nomads scored in each half to carry the day in match witnessed by a sizeable crowd.

Striker Chiukepo Msowowa’s opener in the 16th minute from a Misheck Bottoman cross and a substitute Yamikani Chester’s superb finish in 55th minute from Man of the Match Felix Zulu assist, were enough to take the Nomads to the grand final.

Eagles, who missed their suspended captain Micium Mhone, put little resistance to the Nomads as they failed to come to the party.
In the absence of the creative midfielder the Malawi Police Service outfit ws out of sorts.

For a good part of the match Wanderers goalkeeper William Thole was on holiday.

The only notable threat from Eagles was when Gaddie Chirwa’s powerful long range shot was tipped over by Thole.

On the other side, Brighton Munthali had a busy day collecting and fetching to keep the Nomads at bay.

But he could not stop the home side, on two occasions when Msowoya and Chester managed to beat him.

The victory was a perfect gift for Nomads coach Marck Harrison on his birthday.

But the coach admitted that tye final will be a tough one.

Harrison said: “We dot have to get carried away. You know Bullets have been winning everything for the last years. So it’s not gonna be easy game by any means. We need to stay focused. “

The two sides clash at Bingu Natiobal Staidum on December 18.
