Fazili names Cosafa squad

Malawi National Women’s Team Coach Lovemore Fazili has named a 22 member squad for the 2022 Cosafa Women’s Championship set for Nelson Mandela Bay from August 31st to September 11th.

Fazili has included goalkeeper Martha Banda and defender Fatsireni Kazembe who last played in the 2018 Cosafa Women’s Championship while Nyasa Big Bullets Women defender Bernadettar Mkandawire has find a place in the senior team travelling squad for the first time. 

The Scorchers, who are in Group C alongside Botswana, Comoros and Tanzania, will begin this year’s campaign against Botswana on September 2 before facing Comoros on September 5. The Scorchers last group stage match will be against Tanzania on September 7.

The team is expected to leave for South Africa on Monday afternoon through Chileka International Airport.
