Three U23 players remain in Turkey for trials

Three players who were part of the Malawi U23 national team for the Antalya Cup friendly matches in Turkey will not be coming to Malawi with their colleagues as they have to undergo a modern football training program in Istanbul.

The three, Nyasa Big Bullets defender Blessings Mpokera and Ekwendeni Hammers midfielder Chawanangwa Gumbo and Karonga United Striker Mphatso Kamanga will remain in Turkey having been identified by  Pelican Sports Club Sporting Activities LTD, a FIFA licensed Agency with international football development centers.

According to a letter written by Pelican Sports Club Sporting Activities LTD, the players will be based at the CampProfi Center and will undergo daily training sessions and be involved in test matches with some European Clubs.

” We are intersted in working on the development of the three players in career planning and raising the level for European Clubs. They will undergo a daily training process, take part in test matches and will be introduced to the clubs by participating in games with most of top clubs in Europe at CampProfi’s summer camp”, reads part of the letter.

The rest of the players are expected to arrive to arrive in Malawi on Friday afternoon through Chileka Airport.

The Junior Flames defeated Kuwait 2-0 in their first friendly match on March 24  before a 3-0 loss against Togo on March 28.
