Blantyre Derby in Airtel Top 8 semis

Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers will lock horns in the Airtel Top 8 semifinals following their victories over Mafco and Moyale respectively in the quarterfinals.

Nyasa Big Bullets defeated Mafco FC  2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Chitowe Stadium courtesy of a Babatunde’s brace which canceled the hosts 1-0 lead by Paul Phiri’s strike at 17 minutes.

The Peoples team won the tie 5-2 on aggregate after winning the first leg 3-1.

Babatunde has taken his tally four as he also scored a brace in the first leg.

Be Forward Wanderers on Saturday afternoon defeated Moyale Barracks 4-5 on post-match penalties after a one-all draw aggregate in the two legs.

Captain Lloyd Njaliwa missed Moyale’s first penalty kick while Wanderers scored all their five penalty kicks .

According to a draw conducted at Chitowe on Sunday, the two Blantyre giants will face each other in the first semifinal match while the winner between Karonga United and Civil Service United will host the winner between TN Stars and Silver Strikers in the second semifinal.

The two remaining two semifinalists will be decided next weekend as Karonga United will host Civo at Karonga Stadium on Saturday while TN Stars are expected to hist Silver Strikers at Chitowe Stadium on Sunday.

Both Karonga United and TN Stars are yet to score in the competition as they lost 2-0 and 1-0 respectively in their away games in the first leg.
