FDH Bank Cup Round of 16 preview

The battle for FDH Bank Cup’s MK25 million winners purse continues this weekend as the competition goes into round of 16.

After the 62 matches played in the preliminary and round of 32 matches, 16 teams are expected to battle it out for places in the Quarterfinals between Friday and Sunday.

On Friday MAFCO will host their brothers in arms, Kamuzu Barracks at Civo Stadium while Sable Farming FC will face Ntopwa FC at Mpira Stadium.

After beating fellow regional teams in the round of 32 two, it is yet to be seen if Rumphi United, Wanderers Reserves and Dedza Young Soccer will find their way into the quarterfinals as they face Elite League sides this weekend.

Rumphi United will face red Lions at Mzuzu Stadium on Friday while Wanderers Reserves are expected to face Ekwendeni Hammers at the same venue on Saturday.

Dedza Young Soccer will visit Blue Eagles at Nankhaka on Sunday.

The Cup will bring in two interesting fixtures on Saturday as super league teams will be battling for a slot in the Quarterfinals. After a narrow 2-1 win over Immigration FC in the round of 32, Silver Strikers will host Moyale Barracks .

Be Forward Wanderers will face Chitipa United at Kamuzu Stadium

Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Tigers will wrap the round of 16 show on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium.

The matches will go straight into penalties in case of a draw in 90 minutes. As of now, 19 out of the 62 matches played so far have been decided on post-match penalties.
