FAM donates over 100 footballs to Sulom

Football Association of Malawi has donated over 100 footballs to the Super League of Malawi to be distributed to the 16 TNM Super League teams for their training  as they prepare for  the 2024 season.

The consignment includes footballs of the Moto brand under test where teams are expected to have a feel of the balls and make recommendations on the same.

FAM General Secretary Alfred Gunda said: “The footballs are meant to be used by teams participating in the elite league as training balls. We have given two types of football. The first set has been taken out of a consignment given to us by FIFA under a project and the second set  is from our own Moto branded football which we want to test first before fully introducing them to Malawi football.

“As FAM it is our desire to contribute towards the development of the teams in Malawi where the players are nurtured and want them to have a starting point when it comes to training hence giving them the match footballs,” he said.

Sulom Chief Executive Officer Faith Mzungu Vilakati hailed FAM for the gesture saying the footballs will help in cushioning the teams as they prepare for the 2024 season.

“We are very grateful to FAM for giving us the footballs to be distributed to the clubs ahead of the season kick off.

“These footballs will go a long way in cushioning the clubs as they prepare for the new season because footballs  are among the most crucial equipment that are needed when teams are preparing for matches”, said Vilakati.
