2024 Goshen National Womens Championship

Introduction

The Goshen-FAM National Women’s Championship is a National competition for Women’s Football organized by the National Women’s Football Association (NWFA) with funding from the Goshen City and Football Association of Malawi (FAM). The 2024 edition will be played from 14th to 22nd March 2025.

Participation

The Goshen-FAM National Women’s Championship will be participated by eight teams. The teams are comprised of the top two teams from each of the 2024 Goshen FAM Regional Women’s Football Leagues, plus two teams from the play offs which will involve the three Leagues’ third placed teams.

Player Eligibility

Each team will use players registered with their respective Regional Women’s Football Association for the 2024 Season and will use MPIRA CONNECT and their Leagues Registration cards for identification. Mpira Connect Registration is a must and only those actively registered in the Mpira Connect System will be eligible to participate.

Format

The Championship will be played on knockout basis in the following phases:

Play Offs: The remaining two teams shall be determined through play-offs which will be conducted from before the National Championship draw to come up with eight teams. The three teams that will take part in the Playoffs are:

  • Mighty Wanderers Queens (South)
  • Silver Strikers Ladies (Centre)
  • Topik Sisters (North)

The Playoffs will be played from Friday 14th  to Sunday 16th March 2025 at Mpira stadium.

Quarter Finals: The top two teams from the three Regional Leagues plus the best two teams from the play offs that will involve third placed teams will be paired in the quarter finals. The four winning teams will proceed to the semifinals, then the Final match for the Semifinal winners and third place playoff for the losing semifinalists.

The six seeded teams that have already qualified for the competition are:

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women and Ntopwa FC (South)

Ascent Soccer Academy and Civil Service Women (Centre)

Moyale Sisters and MK Academy (North)

 

All the matches will take place at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre as per the calendar of events below

Prizes

The prizes for the competitions will be distributed as follows:

1 Top Goal Scorer         200,000.00
2 Best Player         200,000.00
3 Best Coach 200,000.00

 

MEDIA AWARDS
1 Best Reporter – Print 200,000.00
2 Best Report – Electronic     200,000.00

 

Other Incentives: Each of the eight qualifying teams will receive a subvention of K1.5 Million during the quarterfinals. The four Semifinalists will also pocket K1.5 Million each while the three team that will participate in the play-offs will receive a subvention of K800,000 each.

The National Champions will represent Malawi at the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifier which will be held later this year.
