Scorchers aim for more goals against Mozambique

The Malawi National Women’s football team, The Scorchers are confident of a big score win against Mozambique this afternoon to revive their 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championship hopes.

The Scorchers lost 2-1 to hosts and defending champions South Africa on Tuesday and must win this afternoon to stay in contention for a place in the semifinals.

Coach McNelbert Kazuwa says they have worked on the mistakes that costed them on Tuesday adding that they need a big score win in the remaining two matches to progress to the last four.

“We have done much ground work looking back at how we played in our first match. We have worked on the mistakes that we saw in our previous match.

“We have worked on our attacking machinery because last time we were leaving one person upfront but this time around we want a strong power force so that we score more goals.

“We also noted some goalkeeping mistakes which costed us the two . Our the keeper was miscalculating distances so we have done much to prepare all our goalkeeper psychologically, physically and mentally so everyone is now ready for the game against Mozambique,” he said.

Mozambique drew 2-2 with Angola in their first match on Tuesday.
