Local Coaches challenged to concur international markets

FAM has challenged the 25 participants of the on-going CAF B Coaching Course to be ambitious and concur international markets.

FAM First Vice President Madalitso Kuyera  made the remarks  on Thursday morning when he officially opened the course which started on Monday at Mpira Village in Blantyre.

“There is something special in you to be among the 25 since we have a lot of them with the CAF C License and need to upgrade and by being in this class, we need them to help in transforming the game.

“It is our hope that the course will go a long way in building your careers and obviously we are going to see improvements in the way you conduct yourselves when you go out there.

“As FAM, our aim is to make Malawi coaches the best, most competitive and successful in Africa hence organising such courses for you because we know that the knowledge gained though such training will help you in managing the teams and hence making our cups and league more competitive.

“After this course, we expect you to be outstanding amongst the rest out there. You  need to show that you have been in class and be exceptional and have learnt the updated technical and tactical aspects of the game.

“We are currently working on CAF A curriculum with the aim to re-introduced the CAF Course next year,” he said

National Football Coaches Association Chairperson Aubrey Nankhuni hailed FAM for organising the course saying their committee wants to have best coaches in the region.

“We appreciate FAM for coming up with the first CAF B course after the last one in 2022. We have a lot of coaches with CAF C and they all want to upgrade and because of the limited space of 25 which CAF gave us, we had to make them apply and we shortlisted the best who are now here”, said Nankhuni.

In his remarks, one of the participants, Joseph Kamwendo, said course is very important to them because the game is changing everyday.

CAF B Coaching License is a requirement for Coaches to lead the Super League teams in the country.

The 25 coaches will undergo three modules in the course with module, which started on 26th August and will end on 1st September, taking the coaches through the technical and tactical aspects of the game. Module 2 is expected to start from 16th to 22nd September and the coaches will go through Laws of the Game and Sports Medicine while the third and last module will cover technical and tactical planning of the game from 7th to 18th September.

Captain John Kaputa (Retired) and FAM TD Benjamin Kumwenda are facilitating the course together with Maxwell Mtonga who will take the coaches though Laws of the Game and Levison Mwale who will cover Sports Medicine.
