Flames hold Namibia

Malawi 1 (Micium Mhone 73′ ) -1 Namibia (Elmo Kambindu 53′)

Flames are out of the 2021 Cosafa Cup after drawing 1- all with Namibia on Tuesday afternoon.

The Meck Mwase side needed a win to remain in contention for a place in the semifinals.

However they could only manage a draw and with a match to play they can only go as far as five points which is below Namibia’s seven and Senegal’s six.

This renders tommorow’s match against Senegal ceremonial for the Flames while the West Africans just need a draw to make it to the last four.

The Flames and Namibia pressed on each other in the opening 45 minutes but could not find the back of the net with the first half ending goalless.

Namibia’s Elmo Kambindu opened the score sheet eight minutes into the second half before susbtitute Micium Mhone equalised 20 minutes later.

In another Group B Match, Senegal beat bottom placed Zimbabwe 2-1.

Lineup: William Thole, Stanley Sanudi, Nickson Mwase, Tawonga Chimodzi, Dennis Chembezi, Chimwemwe Idana (Mike Mkwate 66′), Khuda Myaba (Muhammad Sulumba 65′), Mark Fodya, Maxwell Phodo (Zicco Mkanda 40′), Schumacher Kuwali (Vitumbiko Kumwenda 66′), Ndaziona Chatsalira (Micium Mhone 40′)
