FAM Fines Mzuzu City Hammers for Missing Castel Cup Pre-Match Meeting

The Football Association of Malawi has fined Mzuzu City Hammers for failing to attend a mandatory pre-match meeting ahead of their Castel Challenge Cup semi-final encounter against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.

According to FAM records, Mzuzu City Hammers did not attend the pre-match meeting scheduled for 3:30pm on Friday, 6 January 2026, at Kamuzu Stadium. The meeting was a compulsory administrative requirement aimed at ensuring proper coordination of match logistics, safety arrangements and compliance with competition regulations.

The club’s absence constituted a breach of the Castel Challenge Cup Rules and Regulations.

In line with Article 23.13(a) of the Castel Challenge Cup Rules and Regulations, which provides that any club that fails to attend a pre-match meeting is liable to a fine of MWK 100,000 per offence, FAM has imposed a fine of MWK 100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Malawi Kwacha) on Mzuzu City Hammers.

The Northern Region outfit has been directed to settle the fine within 14 days from the date of the notice. FAM has warned that failure to comply with the directive may result in further disciplinary action in accordance with its rules and regulations.
