Bullets, Civo win derbies
Bullets had the last laugh over their rivals

Big Bullets and Civil Service (Civo) United at the weekend emerged triumphant over Mighty Be Forward Wanderers and Silver Strikers respectively.
Bullets once again excelled in the Blantyre derby following a 2-1 win over their arch-rivals Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday while Civo ended their winless streak by beating Silver 2-0 at Silver Stadium in Area 47 on Sunday.
In the Blantyre derby, remoulded forward Chiukepo Msowoya put Bullets ahead in the 51st minute when he headed home a well-curled cross from Fischer Kondowe.
The Nomads equalised seven minutes later through Rafiq Mussa who connected home a fabulous corner kick from Dalitso Sailesi.
Then just three minutes later, Jaffalie Chande grabbed the winner for Bullets following a move that was orchestrated by Kondowe.
Bullets now lead the log table with 26 points from 12 games, five ahead of the Nomads who, however, have played a game less.
In the capital city derby, Civo surged ahead in the 32nd minute through captain Emmanuel Zoya.
The civil servants were dominant in all departments and they forcing the Bankers into rearguard action with beautiful pass-and-move football which thrilled their long-suffering fans.
Civo’s second goal came through a penalty which was awarded in the 73rd minute after Silver captain Lucky Malata tripped Civo’s Charles Chilembo in the box and from the resultant spot-kick, Nelson Kangunje made no mistake.
The win came as a huge relief for Civo who have now moved a step up from the bottom of the table.
Civo now have six points just like Fisd Wizards who now anchor the log table, but the former has a better goal difference of minimum four against Wizards’ minus six.
Blue Eagles suffered their first defeat of the season when they went down 2-0 to Airborne Rangers. Ased Ayami and Kefas Zimba were on target for Eagles who were without their midfield star Micium Mhone, currently undergoing trials at South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Jomo Cosmos.
Bullets are now the only side yet to taste defeat.
