FIFA/CAF Referees Instructor Michael Makototo is in Ethiopia attending a five-day FIFA Regional Instructors Course.
The course focuses on equipping top technical instructors with the latest concepts in the Laws of the Game to enhance officiating standards in their respective countries.
Makototo emphasized his commitment to passing on what he learns: “Developing referees requires teamwork. When I return, I will share the insights from this course with assessors, instructors, and referees so that we align with international refereeing standards. We are also being trained on how to develop referees from the grassroots level and identify talent in rural areas.”
He added, “This course is crucial for Malawi as it aligns with FAM’s vision of transforming the game.”
Last year, the same course was held in Rwanda, where FIFA appointed Duncan Lengani as Malawi’s representative.
