FAM hails Premier bet for Dedza Sponsorship

FAM president Fleetwood Haiya says the K100 million Premier Bet sponsorship deal for Dedza Dynamos demonstrates that more corporates are seeing value in Malawi football.

Speaking during the sponsorship signing ceremony on Tuesday in Blantyre,  Haiya described the sponsorship as a true reflection of what his leadership had promised and intends to continue doing.

“Goal number Seven of my ‘Transforming the Game’ manifesto is to sustain the success of the Super League of Malawi by enhancing the commercialisation drive and governance of clubs.

“About two months ago, my team approached Premier Bet with proposals to invest in our football offering a range of sponsorship properties of FAM and all its affiliates

“Let me highlight that our focus at FAM is to engage corporates to present a bird’s eye view of all the available opportunities in football to open investment doors at all levels. We believe this is critical in our agenda of transforming the game. With this approach, we were able to broker this sponsorship deal on behalf of the Super League of Malawi and Dedza Dynamos,” he said.

On why Dedza Dynamos was chosen of all the 16 Super League teams, Haiya said: “ FAM and SULOM presented a list of clubs with an analysis of key indicators like Governance, stadium attendance ,Brand and Marketing ,Social media presence and Sporting performance. The analysis provided Premier Bet with data to make an informed decision.

“To the management and leadership of Dedza Dynamos, this is not Corporate Social Responsibility! It is sponsorship – a commercial transaction where there are mutual benefits. We expect that you will invest in brand and marketing strategies therefore creating unrivalled visibility for the sponsor and the club.”

PremierBet Malawi chief executive officer Trevor Whitaker said they decided to partner Dynamos due to the club’s impressive performance in the last two seasons.

The PremierBet deal includes packages for player of the month, player of the year, fans’ player of the year and fan of the year.
